The need for medical care is great right here in Miami County...
Among the residents of Miami County, there are serious health issues…
- 28% of residents have high blood pressure
- 30% of residents have high cholesterol
- 6% of residents are diabetic
- 50% of residents do not visit a dentist at least once a year
- 63% of men have never been tested for prostate cancer
- 6% of children do not have a primary care physician

These serious issues become even more serious when you consider that more than 20,000 of our friends and neighbors in Miami County have inadequate health insurance or no insurance at all and probably are not getting the medical attention they need.
Statistics are from a 2002 study by Wright State University, the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association and 2004 Ohio Family Health Survey.
